Goring Road Runners was founded in 1984 and currently has around 35 club members. We are a UK Athletic member and a member of the West Sussex Fun Run League (WSFRL) which organises mostly off road races up to 10k amongst its 17 league members.
Our race is the first in this series each year, the aptly named “Hangover 5” off road race usually one or two days after the New Year excesses! Details of the race can be found on the Runners World web site or at the WSFRL site.
We meet twice a week, (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at the Sidney Walter Centre in Worthing for a mix of training sessions including speed work, hill reps and the occasional longish run. Run schedules permitting, extra runs are organised as required for members training for half or full marathons. In the summer months we take advantage of the fine evenings and proximity to the South Downs for our own club handicap and knockout cup races.
We are a small and friendly club, welcoming new members of all ages and all running ability. Members regularly run races from 5k to 50k; some fast, some slow and some run-walk.
On the social side, the club organises several events including a summer BBQ, races nights and quiz nights during the winter season.
